I grew up in London and while still in my teens, I won a place to study at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Who’d have thought, all these years later, my classical and contemporary dance training would inform the work I create today?
After leaving college, I performed in theatres and galleries up and down the country. Though passionate, I grew weary, for once the show was over, the work ceased to exist. My yearning to create work less ephemeral, led me first to the clay, then jewellery.
I work hard, it’s true, but it rarely feels like work because I love the creative process. My passion drives me. It pleases me to know my hand-built ceramics and mixed media jewellery sell in shops and galleries in the UK, Europe and the USA.
I put in the hours at my trusty home studio and Knighton Lane Artist studios in Leicester, UK. Once the job’s complete, I let the work do the talking. Some pieces whisper, some shout, but all speak the language of design and love of colour.
Aside from my creative practise, I’ve set up and run a number of successful, cutting-edge, contemporary craft galleries.
When not busy in my studio, or attending world trade fairs and exhibitions, I enjoy my role as a practising ceramics tutor and mentor within the creative industries. I am registered on the Crafts Council Directory and a member of KLA Leicester.
