After 7 years attending pottery evening classes, in Countesthorpe and Hinckley, and 6 years attending Coombe Abbey Woodturners Club at Coombe Abbey Park Coventry on a weekly basis, I joined KLA and stopped working for a living, just as the first Covid-19 lockdown was introduced!

My practice in both crafts is focussed on vessel forms, with my pottery being mostly thrown pieces. I have made a few coiled and slab formed items over the years and expect to complete more projects using both techniques now that I have more time. Glazing has thus far been the bane of my work, so I prefer the random outcomes of pit and saggar firing, naked raku etc. I intend to make my own glazes as I now have my own kiln and control over the firings.

Whilst my woodturning output is predominantly bowls and vases I have made forays into chair making, production of master forms for mould making and slip casting and some tools to use in my pottery. When turning I like to use timber having interesting grain and figuring, and leave the beauty of the wood to show, rather than using stains and colour to enhance uninteresting wood.
